The Issue
On May 24, 2013, our family’s life was turned upside down. A man named Emmanuel Dominguez, heavily intoxicated and enraged after leaving a bar, began aggressively chasing our vehicle while we were simply trying to get home. He attempted to ram us several times, blocked our driveway, and physically attacked our father in front of our home. My brother, Chris Jr., was inside when our mother called in a panic. Seeing his father being attacked, Chris came outside and warned Dominguez multiple times that he was armed.
Dominguez then reached into his motorcycle saddlebag and threatened, “I have a gun for you.” In that terrifying moment, Chris made the split-second decision to fire one shot to protect our family. Tragically, Dominguez lost his life—but it was his own reckless and threatening behavior that led to that moment.
Who Christopher Is:
Chris Jr. was a 22-year-old at the time with no criminal record, studying law enforcement and preparing to become a Texas State Trooper. He is respectful, responsible, and deeply protective of his family. He was at home eating cereal when this nightmare began.
The Injustice:
Despite his cooperation, Chris was treated like a criminal from the start. Our family was held in patrol cars for hours, denied water, and our home was entered without consent. During the trial, key evidence and important witnesses were never allowed to be presented.
We later learned the judge was a former U.S. Marine—just like the victim—and he refused to allow crucial evidence into the trial. It became clear that bias played a role in the outcome. Chris never received a fair trial.
Why This Matters:
Christopher Braughton acted to protect his family in a moment of terror. He deserves justice and a second chance—not 20 years in prison. We are not asking for sympathy—we are asking for fairness.
What We’re Asking:
We are petitioning for Christopher Braughton’s early release or for his case to be re-evaluated with all the facts. Let him come home to the family he fought to protect
How You Can Help:
Please sign and share this petition. Every voice matters. Together, we can make a difference and bring Christopher home.
