I am a resident of the village of Maple Park, Illinois, and I am concerned about my community's future.

Building a solar farm in Maple Park could have various negative impacts, from the potential loss of natural habitats to reduced local property values and possible health risks caused by constant exposure to electromagnetic fields and quality of our soil and water. 

In recent years, similar solar farm proposals have faced opposition across the US due to their impact on local communities. A study from Michigan State University revealed that large scale solar energy facilities can potentially damage local ecosystems (Source: Michigan State University Research). Moreover, research has indicated that property values near solar power installations can decrease by up to 7% (Source: National Bureau of Economic Research).

I am not against renewable energy. However, I strongly believe that such facilities should not be built without comprehensive environmental and socioeconomic impact assessments. Neither should they be established in places where they clearly pose a threat to local communities.
