The Issue

As a landscape professional with a pesticide license in Poolesville, MD, USA, I have witnessed firsthand the negative impacts of similar pesticide bans in other parts of our county. The proposed Montgomery County pesticide ban threatens to disrupt the delicate balance we've achieved between maintaining beautiful lawns and responsible environmental stewardship.

State regulations on pesticides are already in place and have been effective in ensuring that only licensed professionals apply these substances. This ensures that our yards remain healthy while minimizing any potential harm to our environment.

The proposed ban would take away homeowners' rights to choose how their lawns are maintained. It would also negatively impact local businesses like ours that provide these services responsibly under state guidelines.

According to a study by Purdue University, well-maintained lawns contribute positively to environmental health by reducing erosion, filtering rainwater, and absorbing airborne pollutants (Purdue University). However, without access to certain regulated pesticides applied by licensed professionals like us, achieving such benefits becomes more challenging.

We urge you not just as professionals but also as fellow residents of Poolesville who value both the beauty of our homes and the health of our environment - reject this blanket ban on pesticides at county level. Instead let's continue working within state regulations which allow for responsible usage by trained individuals.

Please sign this petition if you believe in preserving homeowner rights while promoting environmentally responsible lawn care practices.
