The Issue

I am a resident of unincorporated Bartow County, living less than two miles from the proposed Kingston Technology Hub site. To me, this isn't merely a theoretical development proposal; it's a profound alteration of the very essence of our community. This is about the roads my family and I drive on, the countryside views we cherish daily, and the neighborhood we lovingly chose as our home.

The proposed Kingston Technology Hub raises several concerns for our community. One of the most pressing issues is the potential environmental impact. Data centers are known for their immense energy consumption and contribution to carbon emissions. Adding another facility of this nature right here will only exacerbate our area’s carbon footprint. With climate change being an ever-growing threat, should we not prioritize green spaces and initiatives over industrial expansion?

Aside from the environmental concerns, there is the potential impact on our local roads and infrastructure. Our roads are not designed to handle the increased traffic that such a facility will bring. This risks creating congestion, increasing the likelihood of accidents, and diminishing the quality of life for all residents.

Another significant concern is the effect on property values and the rural character of our neighborhood. Many residents, like myself, moved to this area to escape the urban sprawl and embrace a quieter, more pastoral lifestyle. The introduction of a large data-center complex threatens to alter the peaceful nature of our surroundings, driving down property values and pushing away those who seek tranquility.

We, the undersigned residents of Bartow County, Kingston, and surrounding communities, respectfully ask public officials, including the City of Kingston Mayor, City Council, Bartow County Government, and the Northwest Georgia Regional Commission, to deny the Kingston Technology Hub proposal in its present form. It is crucial that no annexation, rezoning, infrastructure commitment, or other discretionary approval necessary for this project be granted until a comprehensive study examining the full range of impacts has been conducted and alternative sites or solutions have been considered.

By signing this petition, you are standing with us to protect the integrity, environment, and quality of life in Bartow County. Please join us in urging our public officials to reject this proposal. Together, we can ensure a future that honors the needs and voices of our community.
