Reject the Kenya (Amendment 2) (No 2) Bill No.46 of 2024 Extending Presidential Terms

Reject the Kenya (Amendment 2) (No 2) Bill No.46 of 2024 Extending Presidential Terms
The Issue
The proposed bill - Constitution of Kenya (Amendment 2) (No 2) Bill, No. 46 of 2024 - proposes to alter the presidential term limit from the present five-year period to a longer seven-year term. This potential change in the constitution would necessitate a national referendum. However, increasing term lengths would only serve to extend the tenure of those who have been unsuccessful in meeting their obligations. The current administration has notably failed to live up to its key promises, meaning further terms become counterproductive, wasteful, and unacceptable. Such manipulation of constitutional safeguards must be challenged to protect democracy, and it is now more imperative than ever for us to voice our opposition to prevent the enactment of this bill.
We, as the Kenya Diaspora SPC, urge you to act with us now in rejecting this Bill and protecting our democracy. By signing this petition, you speak loudly and clearly to tell this corrupt government that you have had enough!
