The Issue

In the heart of North Northamptonshire, our villages, towns, and countryside is under threat. I am deeply concerned about the proposed development of an industrial estate right in the middle of our lush farmland, an estate so big that it will see an increase of 13,500+ vehicles per day just on one minor road. This is not just a matter of personal concern—it affects our entire community, our environment, and our way of life.

The developers argue that their speculative industrial estate will bring economic benefits, but their figures are hotly disputed and they have consistently downplayed the devastating impact it would have on our the local communities. The good farm land, which has been used to provide food for generations would be lost forever, replaced by warehouses and industrial structures. There would be a major loss of wildlife, and this close to internationally important wildlife areas.

Moreover, the construction and operation of this industrial estate would lead to significant traffic congestion and pollution. Increased vehicular movement in the area will disrupt the peaceful existence of surrounding communities and make peoples lives a nightmare. The additional traffic will increase air and noise pollution, and put the already struggling and crumbling road network under even more pressure, endangering both health and the environment.

We believe in the principles outlined in the Joint Core Strategy, which emphasizes sustainable development while respecting our local environment and communities. Allowing this development to proceed undermines these policies, setting a dangerous precedent where developers can bypass local democracy and put profit over the people who live in the area.

We urge North Northamptonshire Council to uphold its commitment to our community and reject the developer's planning application. The council has the responsibility to protect our landscape, our health, and our legacy for future generations.

Please sign this petition to safeguard Northamptonshire’s countryside and uphold the democratic planning processes; give the community a voice.
