REJECT THE HARMFUL GOLF NET!

The Issue

Hi all,

For those of you who don’t know Hartsdale, this is a small hamlet in the middle of Westchester County made up of mainly middle class individuals. Many of those who live here reside on E. Hartsdale Avenue where we have a very quaint downtown and a number of apartment buildings that run up along a golf course. We have a wonderful wildlife population of chipmunks, squirrels, bluejays, hawks and more  due to the abundant number of trees and the fact that we push up against the Greenburgh Nature Center.

If it sounds relaxing and picturesque that’s because it is. However, the town is now looking to build a 75 to 90 foot net that will span 150 feet behind all the apartments buildings on the block including the removal of 19+ healthy trees.

This ill advised plan will result in the destruction of property values and the environment while leading to increased soil erosion and flooding of the Bronx River Parkway and downtown Hartsdale and the increased death of the blue jays, hawks and robins that freely live in the area. Imagine looking up and seeing them stuck in a horrible net…

The town is ignoring the implications of this decision and seem OK with harming those who live here despite being presented with alternatives.

Please stand with us and with nature in saying REJECT THE NET.
