The Issue

Growing up in our city, we have cherished the unique lifestyle that our community offers—a peaceful environment, far from the urban chaos. Residents here have chosen this area to escape the hustle of city life, surround themselves with nature, maintain livestock, and enjoy clean air and tranquility. Unfortunately, this cherished way of life is under serious threat due to the proposed construction of a data center in our midst.

The proposed data center plan threatens to bring unwanted noise and light pollution to our serene community. Data centers are notorious for emitting a constant hum due to cooling systems and machinery, disrupting the peace we've all come to value. Moreover, bright lights required for security and operations could disturb not only our nights but also the natural wildlife that thrives in this area.

Environmental concerns are equally alarming. Data centers consume large amounts of water and energy, often leading to water scarcity which would particularly affect our local farmers and livestock owners. The increased carbon footprint and potential environmental degradation pose further risks to our already delicate ecosystem. These factors collectively detract from our quality of life and could pose health risks, particularly to the lower-income families who cannot afford to move should the environment become unbearable.

The location chosen for this project is particularly concerning as it is near lower-income communities. These residents deliberately moved to this area to find refuge from city infrastructure and its associated noise and pollution. They seek peace, space for their livestock, and a lifestyle that is being jeopardized by the prospect of enormous corporate facilities. Our community should not be sacrificed for corporate interests that do not directly benefit us.

We are calling on local government officials and the constructing company to deny the proposal of this data center. We urge a reevaluation of the decision, prioritizing the health, well-being, and voices of residents over commercial gains. There must be a strategic plan that preserves our community standards and respects the lives and dreams of the city's residents.

We need your support to make our voices heard and protect our community from this looming threat. Please sign this petition to demand an immediate halt to the data center proposal to save our homes, our environment, and our way of life.
