Reject Scenario 3 from the New School Boundary Propositions
The Issue
As a deeply concerned parent, I, the originator of this petition, find myself in the midst of a seemingly unfair situation that I know many others in our community share. Our children, who could once simply walk or bike in our neighborhood to MGMS for their education, would under proposed Scenario 3 of the new boundary changes, be forced to travel great distances to attend middle school. Not only does this generate an unwelcome displacement, it poses a huge inconvenience to working parents, and needless interruption to the lives of our young scholars. Moreover, this proposal could have a negative financial impact on us homeowners, as such changes could potentially destabilize home values in our neighborhood.
This is not simply an inferred concern but a genuine probability based on studies such as that conducted by the Brookings Institution which states that school quality can affect home prices by 2.5% per 5% improvement in test scores. We cannot sit passively by and watch as decision-makers knowingly or unknowingly jumble up our children’s educational lives and our real estate investment.
Let's unite and call upon the school board to reject Scenario 3 of the new boundary propositions. Your signature can make the difference in preserving the quality of our children’s education and our neighborhood. Sign the petition now!
