We, the residents of Ellison, Kelowna, BC, Canada have a personal stake in this issue. Our farmland is under threat. Almost every farm surrounding Sandher's packing plant grows food for public consumption. We are trying to protect our land and our livelihoods.

We urge the Ministry of Environment to reject Sandher Fruit Packers’ Application 111625 dated on or about February 21, 2024. This application seeks permission to continue discharging effluent from its facility into the onsite storm system. This runoff flows into an adjacent ditch and onto arable farmland that produces food for our community.

More alarmingly, it also seeps over lands with pristine aquifers that provide drinking water to us all. The chemicals being discharged by Sandher Fruit Packers include known carcinogens and hormone disrupters which pose serious health risks.

Our plea is not just about protecting our farms but also safeguarding the health of our community members who consume this produce and drink this water daily.

We ask you to stand with us in protecting both human health and environmental integrity in Ellison by rejecting this application outrightly. Please sign this petition today!
