Living in the peaceful community of Teulon has always been a dream for my family and many of my neighbours. We chose to come back to our home town for its serene environment, fresh air, and close-knit community spirit, fostering a safe space for our children to play and for residents to enjoy tranquility. However, the proposal to build Rockwood Wrecking & Recovery’s wrecking yard right next to our homes threatens to shatter this peace...

One of our primary concerns is the environmental impact. Wrecking yards are known for potentially leaking hazardous fluids, which can seep into the soil and contaminate water supplies. For many of us, our homes rely on well water, making this a direct threat to our health and safety. Studies have shown that chemicals from junkyards can pollute local groundwater, leading to severe health consequences for community members.

Furthermore, the introduction of a wrecking yard may increase unnecessary traffic and noise pollution, destroying the small-town peacefulness we cherish. Residents like myself fear the potential escalation in crime associated with these businesses, which could fundamentally alter the character of our quiet neighbourhood.

This proposal not only jeopardizes our environment but also undermines the safety and well-being of families who made Teulon home with the expectation of a safe and serene lifestyle.

We urge the Teulon Council to protect our community by rejecting Rockwood Wrecking & Recovery’sproposed wrecking yard. Let us preserve the quality of life we have come to cherish.
