The Issue

I am deeply concerned about our neighborhood's future as Ambassador Homes, LLC. attempts to rezone 5956 Prairie Commons Ln, South Beloit IL 61080 to allow the development of multi-family homes. Our peaceful neighborhood, cherished for its unique character and the sense of community it fosters, is threatened by this proposed change. The introduction of multi-family residences could significantly affect our property's value, amplify traffic noise, and alter the very character of our neighborhood that makes it special.

Rezoning this area for anything other than single-family homes risks disrupting not only the aesthetic appeal but also the community fabric that we hold dear. Our neighborhood is a sanctuary of sorts, a place where children play safely, neighbors know each other, and families have chosen to settle down for its serenity. Allowing this rezoning would potentially lead to increased congestion, noise, and a shift in the community dynamics due to a higher population density.

Statistics from our locality show that areas which have undergone similar rezoning transitions have witnessed up to a 15% decrease in property values. This is a significant concern for many of us who have invested our life savings into buying our homes here. Furthermore, experiences from surrounding neighborhoods highlight that increased traffic can lead to disruptions in daily life and a decline in the quality of living conditions.

We are not opposed to development or progress, but it must be thoughtful and considerate of its impact on current residents. Developing 5956 Prairie Hill Commons as a space for single-family homes would be a compromise beneficial for all—Preserving the tranquility and charm of our neighborhood, while still allowing for the growth that meets the needs of new families seeking a similar experience.

By signing this petition, you can help us urge our local zoning and planning authorities to reject the rezoning request put forth by Ambassador Homes, LLC., unless it aligns with the wishes of the community for single-family homes only. Protect our homes, our values, and our neighborhood. Please, lend your support by signing this petition.
