The Maryville properties are located on Chicago's internationally renowned lakefront. These properties do not need a tax giveaway to entice a creative architect and a financially successful development vision in keeping with the ward master plan goals of modeling sustainability and preserving our architectural heritage.

Alderman Cappleman, we ask you to honor your commitment to fiscal responsibility, to be a good steward of public monies, and to REJECT JDL Development’s proposal and DISSOLVE Montrose-Clarendon TIF district.

So what’s changed? A bad deal has only gotten worse!

Last year Sedgwick development made a proposal for the Maryville site that was rejected by residents and Alderman Cappleman.

This year JDL Development wants to build a project that is the same or worse, requiring a huge public subsidy at the expense of schools, parks, streets, sewers, policing, fire & emergency services, and city colleges.

JDL is building another project in our ward today with no subsidy. Desirable lakefront property does not need a public subsidy!
