Reject Japan's Nomination of Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize

Reject Japan's Nomination of Trump for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize
The Issue
President Donald Trump has been nominated for the 2026 Nobel Peace Prize by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, with supporters citing the recent Gaza peace deal.
But awarding one of the world’s highest honors to Trump would undermine the credibility and moral weight of the Nobel Peace Prize itself.
Trump’s record on global peace and diplomacy is not only controversial—it is deeply polarizing. During his presidency, he:
- Withdrew the U.S. from the Iran nuclear deal, destabilizing one of the most fragile regions in the world
- Openly supported authoritarian regimes, undermining democracy movements abroad
- Cut humanitarian aid and refugee resettlement, abandoning global commitments to peacebuilding
- Amplified domestic division and political violence, with consequences felt worldwide
While any efforts to negotiate peace in conflict zones deserve careful consideration, the Nobel Peace Prize must be awarded to leaders whose commitment to peace is consistent, long-term, and based on human rights and diplomacy—not transactional deals or photo ops.
We call on the Norwegian Nobel Committee to:
- Reject Donald Trump’s nomination for the 2026 Peace Prize
- Uphold the values of the prize by honoring individuals or groups with a sustained, human-centered record of advancing peace, equity, and conflict resolution
The Nobel Peace Prize is not a branding opportunity. It’s a symbol of the world’s highest aspirations. Let’s protect its meaning.
Sign this petition to urge the Nobel Committee to reject Trump’s nomination—and preserve the integrity of the Peace Prize.
