Thank you to all 453 people (and counting) who have signed our petition ‘Reject Development Permit DP2024-05807’ in Bowness due to the maximum 8-unit density being requested by this Development Permit. Our immediate 20+ neighbours have asked City Planning to consider a lower-density proposal that is contextually in keeping with our neighbourhood and aligned with the R-CG blanket rezoning recently approved by the City of Calgary.
This has become an even more pressing issue as the developer seeking the Development Permit has control of the adjacent properties on either side of 4652 83 St. NW. The combined development plans for all three properties (based on the developer's website) would result in 26 units with onsite parking for 13 vehicles and what is currently three single-family lots. We are requesting that both the City and the Developer consider a more modest 16-unit development on three townhouse developments.
This could happen in any community in the City but is being targeted in older neighbourhoods like Bowness which is already experiencing significant infill growth. Please share our petition and encourage people to sign in support of development that is more in keeping with the fabric of your community.
