Reject Bluebell Village Planning Application on A50 in Knutsford

Reject Bluebell Village Planning Application on A50 in Knutsford
The Issue
We, the residents of Knutsford, cherish our historic town. Its quaint charm and unique character have always been a source of pride for us and an attraction for visitors. However, this identity is under threat due to a proposed planning application on agricultural land along the A50.
The application lacks clarity and fails to demonstrate any tangible infrastructure improvements for our beloved town. Traffic congestion is already a significant issue with roads that are ill-equipped to handle current volumes, let alone an increase. The proposed Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) 106 monies are insufficient to address these concerns. Nor is it likely to be used to make these improvements.
Moreover, it seems as though our council is more interested in increasing the population than investing in necessary amenities and infrastructure. Plans are underway to close essential community facilities like the leisure center and local tip while our roads suffer from pot holes and flooding issues.
Our town does not need to become another Warrington or Crewe - we value its beauty, history, and local charm above all else. We urge you to reconsider this planning application that threatens what we hold dear about Knutsford.
Things to consider when wondering if you should sign this petition:-
- There is inadequate infrastructure in the town to cope with this development. The development is not sustainable. Traffic congestion in Knutsford is already bad and there is inadequate car parking. When there are issues on the M6 Knutsford is a car park!
- Recently the local NHS and Educational Authorities have commented that the ensuing increase in population cannot be met with current capacities.
- Not enough GPs. No NHS Dentists. Not enough School places.
- Tabley Park is already building nearly 200 houses, Parkgate over 250. There is already approval for over 60 houses, potentially rising to 100 on the site before the Range Rover garage. Now they want to add 250+ on the other side of the road.
- From Cheshire East’s own calculations in their housing monitoring report, housing supply (excluding LPS 36C now known as Bluebell Village) is 41,638 against a requirement of 36,000. So, even allowing for some flexibility, Bluebell Village is not required.
- Cheshire East are broke, so they are just taking any money from developers they can get. But they are not investing it in the towns that they generate it from. It doesn't help that Knutsford is a conservative town and Cheshire East is Labour. They are putting the money toward Labour towns like Crewe.
- The estate owners have already approached the Sports / Cricket Club, Knutsford Football Club and Egerton Football Club about their leases... wanting to force them out of the sites so they can build on part of this land as well. The golf club will stay, but they want land up the side of the park to build on. The other clubs was being incentivised to support the application and move to a mythical site that they propose to build for them (nothing legally binding!). So we could lose these clubs in the near future.
Please sign this petition if you share these concerns about preserving the character of Knutsford while ensuring appropriate development that benefits all residents.
