I write this petition as a proud member of the University of Utah Beach Volleyball program—a program that just had its best season in history. This year, the team broke records for the most wins in program history and reached new heights that once seemed out of reach. It was a season full of grit, joy, and unshakable team spirit.

Utah Beach Volleyball was more than a team—it was a family. A rising force in a growing sport, this team put Utah on the map in collegiate beach volleyball. They represented the U with pride, determination, and excellence, inspiring fans across the state and beyond. Their success didn’t just show up on the scoreboard—it was felt in every match, every practice, every teammate lifting the other.

And yet, despite this incredible progress, the decision was made to cut the program. It's a decision that has left the athletes, coaches, and supporters stunned and heartbroken. To dismantle a thriving team on the heels of its most successful season undermines not just their achievements, but the future of the sport in our state.

We urge the University of Utah to reconsider. Cutting this program now sends the wrong message to young athletes who dream of competing at the highest level. We ask for a second look—for leadership to honor what this team has accomplished and the direction it's heading.
