The Issue

LET’S BRING BACK 5TH GRADE GRADUATION AT WESTERN!

For years, Western School District celebrated its 5th graders with a graduation ceremony. It was a special tradition that gave students the opportunity to celebrate completing elementary school with their classmates, teachers, and families.

Then, when the elementary schools were combined into one school, the 5th-grade graduation ceremony was discontinued.

We think it’s time to bring it back.

Our children work hard for five years. They learn, grow, make friendships, overcome challenges, and prepare for the next big chapter of their education.

Why shouldn’t they have a special moment to celebrate that accomplishment?

We are NOT asking for an expensive or elaborate event. We are simply asking Western School District to restore a meaningful tradition that existed for years.

A simple ceremony could include:
  Recognition of every 5th-grade student
  Certificates or diplomas
  Student/teacher remarks
Time for families to take pictures
A chance for our kids to celebrate together

This isn't about a fancy graduation, it's about celebrating our kids!
