For two years, they have served together with Nala specializing in narcotics detection. Their bond was abruptly severed when Nala was taken out of service following a non-aggressive nipping incident and placed for adoption. Despite being her first handler and sharing a deep connection with her, Garcia was denied the opportunity to adopt Nala.

This situation not only affects Trooper Garcia but also disregards the emotional well-being of Nala who has been uprooted from her familiar environment and separated from her primary caregiver. The stress that working dogs like Nala experience in their line of duty is significant, making their retirement environment crucial for their well-being.

We believe that it is only fair that Trooper Garcia be given the right to adopt his partner who he has shared an unbreakable bond with over years of service together.
