Reinstate the Stray Cat Contract at Southampton Pet Hospital

Reinstate the Stray Cat Contract at Southampton Pet Hospital
The Issue
As the adoption facilitator and Angel Fund event coordinator at Southampton Pet Hospital, I have devoted my career here to the care, wellbeing, and adoption process of stray cats. As a giant cat lover, this cause is more than a job to me, it is a passion. Our Stray Cat Contract, an essential program, has been helping us deal with the local stray population, providing street cats with food, neuter/spaying services, and much needed medical aid.
The termination of this contract deprives these vulnerable strays of essential support, puts more pressure on local animal facilities, and is detrimental to our overall objective of matching these deserving cats to loving homes. In Canada, there are an estimated 5.4 – 9.6 million free-roaming cats, with 1.5 – 4.1 million of these being feral or unowned (CVMA), and every program that aims to responsibly reduce this number matters. This contract is crucial for the health and control of the local feline population, and an invaluable tool in preventing these innocent creatures from being neglected.
Let us voice our opposition against this decision and urge the Town of Saugeen Shores to reinstate The Stray Cat Contract. Let's show them that the wellbeing of these cats and the health of our local animal population matters to the community. Please sign this petition today.
