Dear friends,
The past few months have been challenging and emotional for all. With all that has happened, we are truly inspired by the kindness and support shown for our teachers and cause.
We have received many emails and messages from people containing kind words and inspiring messages for us and our teachers. It brings us hope that there are still good people in this world who see past the need to attack teachers for simply doing their jobs. As we have not been in contact with the teachers due to them being in hiding, we hope these kind messages bring them some light in such a dark time.
For anyone following latest news, our teachers do still remain in hiding due to receiving death threats despite being cleared by the education authorities. It is disgusting that in the year 2021 people still believe that it is acceptable to threaten people with violence and death in order to solve a problem. What example is this setting to young children?
At Batley grammar school, we all (students and teachers) carry a motto. "Forte non ignave", this translates to "bravely, not cowardly". With this motto we stand stronger and more united than ever before as a small community of people that will always continue to support our teachers bravely. We would like to share a couple of quotes from our favourite author with you all,
“No half-heartedness and no worldly fear must turn us aside from following the light unflinchingly.” and “The world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands, love is now mingled with grief, it grows perhaps the greater.” -J R R Tolkien - The fellowship of the ring
It is this support that helps us to see the fairness and love still left in our community and with that we would like to thank you all for helping us, 70,000+ people is more than we ever thought we could achieve and we hope our gratitude shows. Please continue to share our petition and support our teachers in any way you can, they as well as so many students have suffered across the RE and History department. We just want our teachers back so we can learn.
Kindest Regards,
BGS Student
