Reinstate the 'Right to Wild Camp' on Dartmoor

Reinstate the 'Right to Wild Camp' on Dartmoor
The Issue
Alexander Darwall (Hedge Fund Manager) bought a large estate on Dartmoor National Park, and with it, has used his vast fortune to remove the Right to Wild Camp on Dartmoor.
Devonian locals called on their local MP, Anthony Mangnal, to amend the legislaiton. It is documented that Alexander Darwall paid the local MP, Anthony Mangnal, a large sum of money. The legislation was not reviewed.
Court ruling has removed the Right to Wild Camp on the whole of Dartmoor.
Bylaws were in place for some 36 years allowing people to wild camp - including those participating in the Duke of Edinburgh Award and Ten Tors Challenge. For 36 years people have been able to experience the magical landscape that is Dartmoor, an ethereal land like no other. Connecting people to nature and community.
Swaling and other agricultural methods such as repeated burning and grazing has damaged the land, resulting in coarse grasses and barren areas of the moors. The vegetation on much of Dartmoor in temperate rainforest - agricultural practices have degraded this natural environment. Not campers.
Ask the government to reconsider this ruling of banning wild camping in Dartmoor National Park, sign the petition.
