Reinstate the Nobel Middle School 8th grade games
The Issue
Growing up in Northridge, every student at Nobel Middle School eagerly anticipates the annual Green and White 8th Grade Games, a tradition that has been a cornerstone of our school spirit and community for years. These games, which celebrate camaraderie, talent, and school pride, have historically been the highlight of the 8th-grade experience, marking a pivotal moment in our education journey before the transition to high school.
Unfortunately, this year, without explanation or warning, the games have been canceled, leaving hundreds of students deeply disappointed. For three long years, this year’s 8th graders have looked forward to their chance to step onto the field and participate in this beloved event. Now, that opportunity has been unjustly snatched away from them, and the entire school community is left in confusion and dismay.
The Green and White Games are more than just a series of athletic events. They foster unity among students, encourage teamwork, and provide a platform for students to celebrate their time at Nobel Middle before moving on to bigger endeavors. This cancellation not only strips students of their chance to make lasting memories with their classmates but also disrupts a key element of school tradition.
We are calling on the administration of Nobel Middle School to immediately reconsider this decision and reinstate the 8th Grade Games. There are ways to ensure these games are held safely and responsibly, even amidst potential logistical or safety concerns. Perhaps the event can be adjusted in scale or spread out over more days to accommodate any restrictions, ensuring that every student gets the chance to participate.
The Nobel Middle School community, alongside students' families and faculty, stands ready to support the administration in finding viable solutions. With proper planning and collaboration, we can preserve the essence of these Games and give our students the memorable experiences they rightfully deserve.
Please join us in urging Nobel Middle School to bring back the annual 8th Grade Games and honor the tradition that so many students cherish. Your signature can help bring this beloved event back to our school community. Sign this petition and help us make a difference!
