The Issue

Every parent's morning can be hectic, but for some of us, it's been made incredibly challenging reading the latest email from LPS Transportation.  The school recently cancelled the essential neighborhood bus stop, for the 2026/27 school year, that so many families, have relied on for years.

For many families in our community, the school bus is not a convenience but a necessity.  It's about ensuring our children's safety while giving working parents peace of mind knowing their kids have a reliable transportation option to school.  In some cases, this leaves many children having to walk to school now since most working parents are unable to drive their children to school because Kellybrook Elementary doesn't start until 9:00am.  Most parents, even remote working parents, are already working for the day and rely on the bus to help get their children to school.  If these children have to walk to school, they will be walking most of the school year in cold weather, a mile plus.  The Kellybrook neighborhood is still under construction and the new roads that lead to the school do not have side walks.  It is not safe for the kids to walk that path with all the construction trucks and no side walks.

I'd like to ask the school administration to reconsider their decision and reinstate the neighborhood bus stop. This will provide a safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly way for our kids to travel. It ensures every child in our neighborhood has equal access to a reliable means of reaching school, helping maintain their academic performance and well-being.

We urge the administration to hear our voices and understand the real impact this has on neighborhood families. Sign this petition to support the reinstatement of our neighborhood school bus stop and help us bring back a valuable service that aids in our children's education and safety. Together, we can demonstrate the community's need for this service and hopefully, make an impactful change. Please sign and share this petition with others who care about our children's safety and educational success.
