School children in Peter Tavy have relied on the Tavistock College school bus to pick them up from the centre of the village for many years. Until September 2025, this service was a safe and dependable means for families like mine to commute to school. Suddenly, the bus stop in our village has been removed, forcing young children and their parents to walk a route fraught with risks every school day.

The journey now demands a walk along a narrow country lane, the only route in and out of the village, where there is scarce refuge from traffic. The route is neither designed for pedestrians nor is it a safe passage for our children. The threat of accidents is real - the road has a 60mph limit, multiple blind corners and is a busy route for agricultural traffic. 

Peter Tavy residents have always depended on this school bus service. Removing it disrupts not just daily routines, but jeopardizes the safety and peace of mind of families in our community. The removal of the bus stop compromises the safety of our children and complicates the daily logistics for parents accompanying them. Reinstating the school bus stop in Peter Tavy Village is not just a matter of convenience - it's an essential step in safeguarding our children's well-being.

We urge Devon County Council to reconsider the decision. The immediate reinstatement of the bus stop will restore a critical safety net for our community.
