Reinstate Senrayaperumal as Assistant Professor

Reinstate Senrayaperumal as Assistant Professor
The Issue
In a society increasingly marred by issues of caste discrimination, supporting individuals who have overcome tremendous odds to fulfill their passions and contribute to academic enlightenment is crucial. Senrayaperumal's story is one of resilience and determination. Having dropped out of school at the age of 13, he defied societal norms and seized the opportunity to pursue education with an unparalleled passion, driven by a hunger for knowledge. His academic journey led him to a B.A. and M.A. in History, an M.Phil in Folk Performing Arts, and ultimately, a Ph.D. in Art History from Madurai Kamaraj University in 2013.
Senrayaperumal was appointed to the Department of History at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University through the Scheduled Castes (A) quota in 2016. Yet, in 2024, he was unjustly removed from his position as Assistant Professor—a decision that reflects the persistent and insidious presence of modern-day casteism.
The circumstances surrounding his dismissal demonstrate a blatant disregard for merit and equality. It is imperative that we address such injustices to prevent them from tarnishing the fabric of academic institutions. Senrayaperumal's removal from his job does not just harm him personally but sends a chilling message to countless others who aspire to rise above social barriers.
We call upon Manonmaniam Sundaranar University to rectify this grievous error and reinstate Senrayaperumal to his rightful position. This call to action not only seeks justice for Senrayaperumal but also challenges discriminatory practices that have no place in a modern society.
Your signature on this petition can help combat an instance of caste-based discrimination, uphold academic integrity, and support an individual whose journey inspires many.
