Sean Smith, a well-known figure in Winchester, Frederick, and surrounding counties in Virginia, has been the proud owner of nine German Shepherds. These dogs are not just pets; they are local celebrities known for their good behavior. However, these beloved animals have been unjustly taken from their home and placed into Esther Boyd Animal Shelter following an unproven accusation that they attacked a cow.

For eight long months now, these innocent dogs have been confined to the shelter with no evidence to support the claims made against them. This situation is not only distressing for Sean but also for those who know and love his dogs. It seems that county officials are using this incident as an excuse to bully Sean out of his home.

German Shepherds are known for their intelligence and obedience German Shepherds are a part of Herding Breed, therefore they herd livestock. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), they rank third when it comes to understanding new commands and following them 95% of the time or better after a  few repetitions. Yet despite this fact and despite their well-known good behavior within our community, Sean's dogs remain unfairly detained.

We believe in justice not only for our fellow citizens but also for our four-legged friends who cannot speak up for themselves. We call upon Frederick County authorities to review this case thoroughly once again considering there is zero evidence against these animals.
