Over the past week, our campaign has continued to gather momentum — and we want to keep you fully updated on where things stand.

✅ Our petition, now signed by 1,045 people, has been formally lodged with South Lanarkshire Council. While the Petitions Committee has declined to take it forward, the matter has now been escalated into the Council’s formal complaints process and is being handled at Stage 2 (Ref: 2623681).

✅ We’ve had confirmation that the route has been reassessed by council officers, but no details have yet been provided about when, where, or under what conditions this was carried out. This lack of transparency is exactly why we continue to push.

✅ Our Freedom of Information (FOI) request (submitted 22/08) is still pending, and we expect a full response by 20/09. This will hopefully shed light on how the council justified calling this a “safe walking route.”

✅ Support from elected representatives remains strong. Both Cllr Elise Frame and Màiri McAllan MSP continue to back our campaign, with Màiri’s office confirming they will raise this directly with the Executive Director at South Lanarkshire Council.

✅ Media coverage has also been extensive this week, with stories published by the Daily Record, Lanarkshire Live, and Carluke Gazette, keeping the issue in the public eye and the pressure firmly on the council.

🙏 Thank you to everyone who has stood with us — your support, signatures, and shared stories are what make this campaign stronger every day.

We will keep pushing until South Lanarkshire Council delivers genuine safety for Sandford’s children — whether through reinstated transport or meaningful safety improvements to the route.
