Maurene Comey, a respected federal prosecutor who helped lead the criminal cases against Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, was abruptly fired this week by the Trump administration.

No clear reason was given. No explanation was offered to the public.

Comey’s work has been at the center of the government’s most high-profile sex trafficking cases. She fought to protect victims. She oversaw some of the most sensitive investigative materials in the Epstein case. And now, in the middle of growing outrage over the administration’s refusal to release Epstein-related files, she’s been dismissed—without warning, and without cause.

This doesn’t look like a routine staffing decision. It looks like retaliation.

We’re calling on the Department of Justice to reinstate Maurene Comey, or provide a transparent, apolitical explanation for her removal.

Anything less will only deepen the public’s concern that this firing was politically motivated—and that justice in the Epstein case is being buried, not served.

The people who tried to hold predators accountable deserve our protection. Silence them, and you silence the truth.
