The excitement of attending MCM Comic Con in London should not be overshadowed by the chaos of entering the venue. Recently, MCM Comic Con made the decision to remove priority entry times for day and weekend ticket holders and have replaced this entry time as a standard entry for both weekend ticket holders and general entry tickets, with VIP now entering just 10 minutes before this opening time. This change raises serious concerns about what will happen when tens of thousands of eager attendees converge simultaneously at the event gates.

 This recent October (2026), during the MCM event at the ExCeL Centre, many attendees faced significant delays leaving the venue. The situation was exasperated by poor weather conditions, leaving convention-goers waiting outside in the rain and inside unable to exit for hours. This experience was not only inconvenient but also risky, especially considering the safety and welfare of attendees. As Excel London is already struggling with the amount of people that attend MCM Comic Con, this adjustment to entry times will make attending the convention far harder to enjoy and poses a risk to many attendees. 

Without staggered entry times, there is a high risk of overcrowding upon entry, which could lead to chaos and potential hazards, as well as making it far more difficult to access shows, meet and greets, cosplay meet ups, access to cloakrooms, changing rooms, workshops, and more. Transportation will become harder to access due to crowding from busier stations, entry times queues will take longer than usual, and overall safety for everyone attending would be at risk.

This is also a huge issue for neurodivergent people and people with disabilities as many of us heavily rely on the quieter hours to enjoy the show, taking away priority will also take away many people’s ability to access the con entirely. 

MCM Comic Con has always stood for fun, creativity, and community. However, these values are compromised when proper crowd management is neglected.

We call upon the organisers to reinstate priority entry times for day and weekend tickets. These times will ensure a more organised and safe entry process. Additionally, we urge a review of VIP early entry procedures to streamline access. It's crucial to implement a clear plan to manage entry and exit points effectively, ensuring safety and enjoyment for all participants.
