A murder and a shooting

This past week has seen one murder and another shooting just hours after a Lego day community event we put on in Willow Oaks apartment complex.  One dead and one in the hospital fighting for his life. 

Ticket writing does not protect the public, it generates revenue.  

I have been talking about community policing for years and even In this petition I’ve talked about it over and over… because it works.   It is how I’ve solved countless crimes and prevented countless more.   Just as countless other officers in other agencies have done the same.  

Ticket revenue does not save lives or prevent crime.  

Here’s the thing, I have connections to all of my neighborhoods.  I was made aware of all of this before it happened and TRIED to get the local agency to listen.  

Ticket money, revenue generation, highway taxation… it’s no different.

To make matters worse I warned them of the second shooting before it happened, and even WORSE, I saw an officer in a local burger joint and told them directly that a shooting was about to occur and they should send coverage to both potential neighborhood areas.  They did not and another man got shot.  

Ticket writing generates revenue. It does NOT prevent crime.   

This chief openly admitted that he terminated me because I would not keep his ticket quota to make more revenue for him and the town manager to get raises for.   He openly admitted he didn’t care for community policing and preferred ticket writing revenue generation to public safety. 

Now in the wake of these shootings the agency has barely shown up, trying to save face and taking a slight temporary break from ticket writing so they can notate on dispatch a “signal 30” or a show up at the behest of their ticket writing revenue generating leader.   The officers show up and stay in the neighborhoods for a few minutes and then leave.   Visiting neighborhoods and preventing crime was why the chief got rid of me. 

If their leader had been focused on community policing instead of making money for himself and his bosses then perhaps one man wouldn’t be dead right now and another with bullet holes in them.  

Did I mention that generating ticket revenue and ignoring community policing doesn’t help anyone?
