Revenue generating vs community policing

How much is your safety worth?  A dollar?  20 dollars?  What’s your price?  

Community policing does not generate revenue.  Writing tickets in a speed trap generates revenue.  

Which activity would you rather trust you and your families safety to?

This agency has abandoned true community policing in favor of sitting in a 25/35mph crossover zone to write tickets and generate revenue.   The chief himself in a news articles admitted his agency is focused on ticket writing and revenue generation. 

Then you have the top level people all getting raises while crime is out of control.  That ticket revenue is high performance however.   Isnt that the goal?  Doesn’t it make you feel safe knowing the agency makes money to pay itself?

Meanwhile gang and drug activity have claimed another life. Another life hangs in the balance with another young man in the hospital with bullet holes in them.  

You know what we didn’t see in the community the day before the shooting?  You know what we didn’t see in the community in the days after the shooting leading up to the second shooting?  

The citizens feel abandoned and discriminated against.  Is this the type of agency you want taking care of your safety?
