You can do the job without generating complaints

Being a good proactive cop doesn’t mean you have to treat people negatively or badly.  You don’t have to generate complaints by treating people poorly. You can absolutely perform to a high level and keep everyone safe AND make effective arrests without causing problems.  

I have done this for a very long time in some of the roughest areas around.  As an individual and as a team it’s always been easy to maintain a high level of effectiveness as long as you stay dedicated to the people you serve.  Even in Richmond me and my team were able to build bridges and create long lasting relationships that increased the safety and well being of everyone in our community. 

So when an agency starts actively getting rid of good officers that have this experience it can have a huge negative impact on the community and everyone’s safety.
