My roots run deep in Perry, Georgia. From my formative years in Perry's exceptional school system to the cherished moments at the Perry fairgrounds (prom, graduation, GA National Fair, and Mistletoe Market), I've always been proud to be a part of this community.

This love of our incredible town is why I was shocked to learn that our local recycling program was recently discontinued on May 1, 2024 - a decision that negatively impacts us all.

Recycling plays a HUGE role in creating positive change in the ongoing climate crisis. Personal recycling reduces the amount of waste sent to landfills and incinerators, conserves natural resources, and drastically reduces pollution. Without local recycling programs like the one we once had, individual efforts diminish dramatically (as noted in a report from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)).

If towns like ours continue to contribute to the problem, by 2050, we'll have produced a staggering 26 billion tons of plastic waste, almost half of which will be dumped into landfills and the environment. 

Our Perry community can ACT. As residents, it is crucial that we do our part in preserving the planet - not just for ourselves, but for the future of our children.

Please sign this petition to reinstate Perry's recycling program. We ask Perry's leadership to acknowledge our environmental commitment and reverse the decision to cancel the recycling program. Let's show that the Perry community cares about its residents, its environment, and the world.
