The issue

1. We would like to lodge our objection to the removal of the Richmond River Historical Society (RRHS) and its volunteer-run Lismore Museum from the heritage Lismore Municipal Building by Lismore City Council.

2. We call for the Council to reinstate the Museum into the top floor of 165 Molesworth Street and implement the promised license for 5 years.

3. The RRHS has been very poorly treated and we request an official apology.

Lismore is a large Regional City and it is shameful that RRHS has had to provide this wonderful cultural service with unpaid volunteers for over 70 years, something that more than 25 other Regional Councils now provide to their community with pride, with paid staff.

The Council’s actions have brought the City of Lismore into disrepute. This reputational damage will be remembered in years to come and indeed in the documents of the Museum.
