Reinstate One Lunch at Green Run High School
Reinstate One Lunch at Green Run High School
The Issue
As a student at Green Run High School, having one lunch is very important to me. Despite receiving multiple warnings and being informed it was a privilege, our one lunch was taken away due to incidents involving just two students fighting. Our school has nearly 2000 students, and it's inevitable that conflicts will arise, but it feels unjust to penalize everyone for the actions of a few.
One lunch gave us the freedom and opportunity to communicate and socialize with friends across different classes and grade levels. Without it, I struggle to maintain those valuable connections. This restriction hinders our ability to build social skills and network, which are vital for personal growth and future success.
Statistics show that communal lunches can boost student morale and encourage a more cohesive and supportive school environment. When students are allowed to engage freely, there's a noted decrease in behavioral issues as they feel more connected and responsible towards one another.
Our request is simple: Restore the one lunch schedule. This will not only benefit us socially but also academically, as students are often more engaged and attentive when they feel a sense of community within their school. A return to one lunch would demonstrate trust in the student body and focus on constructive solutions that enhance our educational experience.
I urge the school administration to reconsider their decision and reinstate one lunch for the benefit of the entire student community. Please support us by signing this petition.
