Reinstate nursing simulations for KPU BSN students

Reinstate nursing simulations for KPU BSN students

The Issue

Nursing simulations are an integral part of the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program, however, at Kwantlen Polytechnic University (KPU) in Langley, BC, these simulations have been CANCELED. This threatens the quality of education that students receive and, ultimately, the standard of care provided to patients in the community.

Simulations prepare students for the challenges they will face and builds critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and decision-making skills.

Wouldn’t you rather your nurse had the chance to practice and receive feedback on their technical skills in a safe, controlled, risk-free environment... rather than learning on you?

According to studies published in the Journal of Nursing Education, simulation training has been shown to increase the competence and confidence of nursing students by SIGNIFICANT amounts.

Canceling these simulations risks producing graduates who are not equipped to step into the vital role of healthcare providers.

Let's ensure nurses receive adequate training.
