Temple University, a renowned institution in Philadelphia, PA, USA, discontinued its NCAA Division 1 baseball and softball programs in 2014 due to budget constraints. These were successful programs with a rich history; the baseball team even made it to the College World Series in 1972 and 1977. Today, we urge Richard Englert, the university's president, to reconsider this decision. The landscape of college sports has changed significantly over the past few years with new revenue potential emerging from streaming platforms. Reinstating these programs would not only honor our school's athletic legacy but also provide more opportunities for our students and bring potential revenue and awareness for our beloved university. We believe that investing in these sports is a better use of resources than building a new football stadium on campus as proposed by some stakeholders.
