With little regard to how it would impact students and teachers, HISD abruptly removed Michael McDonough as principal of Bellaire High School on May 4, 2022. Mr. McDonough has a stellar reputation among the parents, students, teachers, and community. Many parents who send their students to Bellaire have other options, but continue to choose Bellaire in large part due to the leadership provided by Mr. McDonough. He has a 15 year reputation of positively shaping the community of Bellaire. Removing him for any period of time will negatively impact teachers, students, and the whole community. The removal of Mr. McDonough was done without consideration of students and teachers. We want him reinstated as principal immediately. We strongly believe that any investigating can be done while he continues to run Bellaire High School.
