The issue

Many families at Lycée Condorcet Sydney have been disappointed by the decision to discontinue Mother's Day and Father's Day celebrations, particularly as parents were not meaningfully consulted before this significant change was made.

We support inclusion and respect for all family structures. However, true inclusiveness should mean adding recognition for everyone, not removing traditions that are important to many families.

Mother's Day and Father's Day give children valuable opportunities to express gratitude and love to their mothers and fathers. Rather than replacing these celebrations, Lycée Condorcet should reinstate them and introduce a dedicated Parents' Day that allows every child to celebrate the important people in their lives, including parents, grandparents, guardians, carers, and loved ones.

This approach respects tradition while genuinely embracing diversity and inclusion.

We call on Lycée Condorcet Sydney to:
Reinstate Mother's Day celebrations.
Reinstate Father's Day celebrations.
Introduce an annual Parents' Day to recognise all family structures and loved ones who play an important role in children's lives.
Consult parents and caregivers before making major cultural changes affecting the school community.
Promote inclusion by expanding celebrations rather than eliminating existing ones.
True inclusiveness is achieved by bringing people together, not by removing opportunities for children to celebrate the people they love.

Sign this petition to support parental consultation, family traditions, and a genuinely inclusive Parents' Day for all.
