Snapchat group chats used to be a space where we could chat and organize our plans smoothly. But now, they're often a chaotic mess. The ability to create and manage group chats has long been one of Snapchat's most beloved features. It allowed us to connect with friends and family, plan events, and share life's moments in a controlled and pleasant environment. However, this harmony has been disrupted since Snapchat removed the ability to appoint moderators in group chats. This change has stripped these groups of any form of structure or order.

In countless situations, group chats have been overtaken by a single individual who can add or remove anyone at will, causing unnecessary drama and confusion. As someone who has witnessed several of my group chats fall apart because someone misused their power, I know firsthand how frustrating this can be. Often, it ends with important members leaving in frustration, or worse, the chat disbanding entirely.

The importance of having moderators cannot be overstated. Without them, there is no mechanism to ensure that everyone behaves appropriately, follows agreed-upon rules, or maintains the integrity of the chat's purpose. Having designated moderators would restore order and allow group chats to be about connecting and sharing once again, not power struggles.

We propose that Snapchat reinstates the moderator feature, allowing users to appoint trusted individuals who can manage the group effectively. This would mean only moderators could add or remove members, control the conversation flow, and ensure the chat stays on topic and respectful. With this change, Snapchat can regain its reputation as a user-friendly platform, promoting better social interaction.
