The Issue

Miss Tish has been an integral part of our community, ensuring the safety of our children as they navigate the busy intersection of Pothouse Road and Trotters Drive. Her dedication goes beyond what is typically expected of a crossing guard, and she has become a beloved figure in the community. Unfortunately, it seems that Miss Tish may have been unfairly terminated from her position, possibly due to her commitment to going “above and beyond”, even though she was only trying to help and stay vigilant.

Miss Tish's detailed attentiveness and caring nature have made her a pillar of trust and assurance among parents and children alike.  It is crucial to understand that her proactive measures and heightened awareness are in line with what our community prioritizes for our children's safety.  Her positive impact on countless children’s lives and the community at large cannot be overlooked. Many parents and residents are more comfortable knowing Miss Tish is vigilantly watching over their children.

Miss Tish is more than “just” a crossing guard. She truly cares for the safety of not only our children, but the community as a whole.  Miss Tish embodies what it means to look out for one another and the old adage of “it takes a village”.

Let's rally together to bring Miss Tish back to her rightful role, ensuring our streets are safer with her presence and highlighting the irreplaceable service she provides. Please sign this petition and help us in delivering this message to those with the power to reinstate her. Your support can truly make a difference. JUSTICE FOR MISS TISH!!!!

Hey Neighbors, I’ve read through the comments on this petition, and it is incredibly clear how much Miss Tish means to families in our community. Because this sits outside of the school district, I don't have any insight into the specific staffing decisions regarding Miss Tish but it’s awesome to see this community rally so strongly to keep our kids safe. As a single member of the school board, I wanted to share a quick look at how these roles are set up, just to make sure all of this great energy and advocacy actually gets to the people who can make a shift. Here is how it breaks down: • The School District doesn’t manage crossing guards: The district doesn't hire, fire, employ, or oversee the crossing guards in our district. • The Borough handles crossing guards through a private contract: In Phoenixville, crossing guards fall under the responsibilities of the Borough, and the day-to-day staffing and operations are outsourced to a private management company (All City Management Services). Because the School Board has no operational or contractual control over these positions, I don't have the authority to step in or make hiring decisions here. Also, just as a general rule, specific personnel decisions are always kept private out of respect for confidentiality, so you may not find anyone able to discuss the specifics openly. I love seeing our community look out for one another but since this falls outside the school district's scope, your best bet is to direct your messages, emails, and feedback to the Borough leadership or the private management company that runs the crossing guard program. Thank you all again for caring so much about our community and our students! Kindly, Daniel Wiser PASD Board Member (Term of 2023-2027)
