I am a parent of a 4th grader and a 2nd grader in District 15 Brooklyn.  Reading this New York Times article made me hopeful for children across the city but not so optimistic for my children and their friends in District 15 - https://www.nytimes.com/2022/09/29/nyregion/nyc-schools-admissions.html

According to this, screens such as grades and admission test scores will  once more be used to assess students for entrance to Middle School BUT NOT for District 15.

District 15 students  should be given an equal opportunity to attend a school with a screened admissions process and not be randomly assigned a lottery number. NYC should encourage its bright students not penalize them.

We pay our taxes equally, but are now being effectively singled out. District 15 families have already been leaving because of this issue.  Now that the other districts have a screened admissions process, please help District 15 families have an equal footing.

Please don't let District 15 get left behind academically.
