The Issue

I am one of many students who found the meal equivalents at Tdubs, particularly the Smoodi smoothies, to be an important part of my dining experience at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ). Having the Smoodi count as a meal equivalent meant that I could enjoy a refreshing smoothie along with my favorite meal of 3-piece chicken tenders, all under a single meal swipe. This combination was not only delicious but also convenient, offering me the flexibility to balance satisfying meals within the constraints of my meal plan.

Unfortunately, the recent removal of smoothies from the meal equivalent program has disrupted this convenience. Each meal plan swipe is now less versatile, and this change has left many students frustrated. The removal means we have to make separate purchases for a drink and a meal, which not only increases our out-of-pocket expenses but also limits our meal options, diminishing the value of our dining plans.

The meal equivalent program has been a crucial aspect of TCNJ's dining services, ensuring that nutritious and satisfying meals are accessible to all students. The smoothies, with their rich flavors and nutritional benefits, were a popular choice among students seeking a nutritious and quick meal or snack option.

I urge the TCNJ administration and dining services to revisit their decision and restore the smoothies to the meal equivalent program. While I understand that budgetary and logistical considerations must be accounted for, I believe that student welfare should be prioritized.

By signing this petition, you can help bring attention to this issue and urge TCNJ Dining Services to reconsider their policy for the benefit of all students. Let's work together to ensure that our meal plans offer both delicious and cost-effective choices!
