Reinstate M.Sc. Psychology ODL/Online Programme
The Issue
I am a student enrolled in the M.Sc. Psychology ODL/Online programme as of July-August 2025, eagerly looking forward to my journey in mental health. For many students like me, this programme is not just an academic pursuit but a lifeline—a bridge to achieving dreams that circumstances might otherwise leave unreachable.
This online programme was designed to accommodate students who face financial and personal constraints, making it impossible for them to attend on-campus classes. By cancelling this programme, the UGC inadvertently closes doors to numerous students who are determined to carve out a career in mental health, a field that is not only pivotal for the societal fabric but also personally meaningful for many.
The demand for mental health professionals is rising, with the World Health Organization indicating that close to one billion people live with a mental disorder. In a world where mental health understanding and support are crucial, reintroducing accessible education pathways like the M.Sc. Psychology Online programme is imperative. It also aligns with contemporary educational trends that emphasize digital accessibility for all.
The reinstatement of the M.Sc. Psychology ODL/Online programme is essential to harness talent and passion from all walks of life, ensuring that potential is not wasted due to the inability to attend in-person classes. Allowing it to continue will not only support aspiring mental health professionals but also contribute significantly to society's wellbeing.
I urge you, the UGC and Ministry of Education, to reconsider and reinstate this vital programme, keeping in mind the dreams and potential it nurtures. Please help us continue our education and fulfill our destiny to contribute positively to society. Sign this petition to support the reinstatement of the M.Sc. Psychology ODL/Online programme.
