Reinstate Khayelitsha Commuters Inside Civic Centre Station
The Issue
We, the commuters of Khayelitsha, call on the City of Cape Town and MyCiTi to urgently address the ongoing mistreatment and unsafe conditions we face daily.
We travel 35–40km each day per trip, paying up to R32 -R37.50 on peak hour, yet we are subjected to unsafe buses, unreliable service, and dangerous waiting areas. Now Myciti is due to increase the prices by the 1st of July with the horrible service we are experiencing which have knock on effect on us from the Townships.
Commuters, including the elderly are forced to wait under the Civic Centre bridge, exposed to crime, harsh weather, and unsafe surroundings.
This displacement violates city laws and strips us of dignity, safety, and equal treatment.
👉 This is how low we are being reduced by the City of Cape Town.
We demand:
Immediate reinstatement of Khayelitsha commuters inside the Civic Centre station.
Safe, reliable buses with proper maintenance.
Transparent communication on route changes and cancellations.
Equal treatment and respect for all commuters, regardless of where they live.
Our lives matter. Our safety matters. Our dignity matters.
Call to Action
Sign this petition and stand with Khayelitsha commuters. Together, we can demand accountability and change.
