Reinstate Jessica Robinson in the Student Parking Lot

The Issue

Since the start of the 2023–2024 school year, Ventura High School security guard and softball coach Jessica Robinson has played a key role in managing the student parking lot. Her involvement helped create a safer and more organized environment, and many students and staff appreciated her presence. Recently, however, Jessica’s access to her golf cart and her role in the parking lot were revoked due to administrative decisions. Since then, the parking lot has reportedly become more chaotic, raising concerns about safety and efficiency during busy times.

Jessica is known not only for her effectiveness in her role but also for the positive energy she brings to campus. While enforcing rules is an important part of any security position, many believe that warmth, empathy, and approachability are also valuable qualities — all of which she demonstrates daily.

There have also been concerns about inconsistent enforcement practices in the lot. As most students know, Seniors and Juniors use their cars as their lockers, considering Seniors are not offered a locker at the beginning of the year. For example, the current assistant principal reportedly denied a student access to their vehicle for a class-related item, despite the vehicle being clearly visible and the situation posing no apparent risk. Incidents like these contribute to a growing feeling among some students and families that enforcement is not always applied fairly. Some community members have also raised concerns about the potential for racial bias in how certain decisions are made on campus. These concerns deserve to be taken seriously and addressed through open dialogue and accountability.

We ask that the school administration reconsider their decision and allow Jessica to return to her duties in the student parking lot. Her presence has had a positive impact on the campus community, and her contributions deserve recognition and support.

Please consider signing this petition to support a return to fairness, efficiency, and a more welcoming environment in the student lot.
