Game development is the first thing that I've felt real motivation to do but I need the school environment and deadlines to really be successful and learn. I believe the program's absence is a significant loss not just for myself but for countless other students in London, Ontario, who share this dream. 

The Fanshawe College Game Developement program was an incubator for creativity and innovation, equipping students with the practical skills needed to thrive in the growing gaming industry. According to the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, the gaming industry generated $4.5 billion in revenue in 2020, with Canada being the third-largest producer of video games globally. This sector is not just booming but also offers promising career paths.

The decision to discontinue the game development program has left aspiring game developers with limited options. Other colleges offering similar programs are often located in distant cities, forcing students to relocate or abandon their dreams altogether due to the high costs associated with moving and enrolling in other institutions.

Reinstating the game development program at Fanshawe College could reignite hope and provide opportunities for numerous potential game developers. It would also ensure that local talents are nurtured and retained in our community, thus contributing to the local economy. Investing in this program would not only benefit students but also support local industries reliant on technological innovation and creativity.
