In Hartsville, SC, Fire Chief Jeff Burr, Asst. Chief Jason Bell, and Firefighter Bryce King have been serving diligently for years. Each have deep roots in our community's soil through their dedicated service. Recently, our community's sense of trust and continuity has been shaken up. Our new City Manager and Assistant City Manager - people without any previous experience in this sector and those who, unfortunately, hold considerably hefty paychecks - have taken an alarming action dismissing these loyal, well respected, and beloved firemen. 

With no previous warning or even so much as a conversation, they were terminated. But we, the people of Hartsville, who have seen these men sacrifice their safety and comfort for our community's wellbeing, understand the sheer injustice of the situation. Wrongful termination is not only illegal under South Carolina law, but it also undermines the commitment these men have shown to their roles. 

This decision tears at the heart of our community, impacting not only these three men but everyone who has ever relied on our local fire department. It's time to correct this mistake and restore faith in our leadership. Let us stand up for our rescuers and protectors. Now, it's our turn to be there for them.
