Over the past years, access to email has become an essential tool in education for student-teacher interaction, collaboration on group projects, and communication with parents. Unfortunately, Dickinson Middle School has recently revoked this access to its students, hindering communication and learning progress.

According to a study by the Pew Research Center, 92% of teachers state the internet has had a significant impact on their ability to access content, resources, and materials for their teaching. By denying email access, we inadvertently place limitations on these resources, creating a gap in the potential academic growth and the actual growth the students could achieve.

Beside academic growth, email communication also builds necessary life skills in students. As per the American Psychological Association, these may include effective digital communication, time management, and learning etiquette of professional correspondence, all of which are essential in our increasingly digital world.

Therefore, this petition calls upon the board of Dickinson Middle School to bring back email access for all its students. We want to ensure that our children are provided all possible tools needed for their success in a technologically evolving world.
